The day master is the single character that represents the self in a Korean astrology chart. It is the heavenly stem of the birth-day pillar, and it is the lens the rest of the chart is read through. From each idol's documented birth date, using the classical boundaries rather than the calendar ones. The year turns on 立春 in early February, so a January birthday belongs to the previous year, and each month turns on its solar term rather than on the first. Birth times are not public, so these are three-pillar charts.

A complete Korean astrology chart has four pillars: year, month, day and hour. The hour pillar requires an exact birth time, which K-pop idols do not make public. These readings use the three pillars a birth date establishes and say so, rather than filling the gap with a guess.
